The beauty of flooring is timeless. But times change, and today, design and building professionals seek flooring choices that are not only elegant and durable, but also that ensure a healthier future for people and the planet.

At WoodChic, we are 100% committed to delivering the responsibly manufactured flooring today’s professionals covet and businesses like yours seek to offer. Let us outline our commitment to creating a better and more beautiful world.

Unlike flooring choices ranging from ceramic tile to carpet, wood is a renewable resource. A recent study conducted by The National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) and the Decorative Hardwoods Association (DHA) shows that both solid-wood and engineered-wood floors offer the lowest Global Warming Potential (GWP) scores of any flooring choices. This carefully derived environmental criteria is becoming an accepted standard in the flooring industry.

WoodChic builds upon this advantage by making sure all of our hardwood comes from certified green, self-renewing sources. Our wood is farmed, responsibly harvested and replanted according to long-term sustainability plans—ensuring there is no net wood- land loss or negative impact on the environment created by WoodChic floors.

In addition, WoodChic uses exclusively natural wood as raw material for all our engineered hardwood flooring. This helps us not only comply with existing standards, but to raise renewable source reliance every time we create a beautifully engineered floor.

Although vinyl flooring is a synthetic product, its embodied carbon footprint could be less than 1 percent of a whole building’s embodied carbon, leaving a small environmental footprint.

WoodChic spares no effort in making its vinyl products as eco-friendly as possible. Utilizing 100% quality virgin vinyl and rigorous production process, WoodChic’s Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring can last over many decades, reducing the need for replacement and minimizing the negative impact on the environment.

With renewable wood sourced for raw material and the use of highly sustainable ingredients, we painstakingly oversee a CARB II/EPA-compliant and/or Floorscore Certified manufacturing process, adhering strictly to stringent environmental protections as well as the federal Lacey Act. Nothing is wasted in our efforts:

• Tree bark is processed into mulch and soil conditioners
• Sawdust fuels the boilers that operate dry kilns, and is used in animal bedding
• Trimmings are chipped and processed into paper and other products
• Small wood pieces are recovered for use as products such as finger-jointed wood components

Lastly, WoodChic utilizes the latest manufacturing processes to minimize the emission of VOCs, preventing potential heath harms to users. Our vinyl products are phthalate free, heavy metals free, formaldehyde free, flame retardant free, and CDPH compliant.

Our partners in creating finishes for WoodChic floors are Sherwin Williams/Valspar and other established leaders–those setting the standard for eco-friendly finishing products that exceed the highest environmental, durability as well as aesthetic standards.

Together with our partners, we set in place stringent processes ensuring one of the lowest VOC emissions in the industry. All our flooring products are Floor Score Certified and comply with California Prop 65 indoor air quality requirements. In addition, our wood products are recognized by over 20 environmental programs, including the USGBC’s LEED Rating Systems, BREEAM, Green Globes, ASHRAE/USGBC/EIS 189.9 Standard for High Performance Building Green Buildings, Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS), NAHB Green Building Standard and US EPA Tools for Schools.

By establishing one of the greenest manufacturing systems anywhere in the flooring industry, WoodChic firmly supports your business desire to lead the flooring industry in responsible practices. And we continue to rigorously test our product to ensure it is meeting intended levels today as well as tomorrow. We take great pride in delivering flooring that homeowners can live with and love for decades to come.
